Dentistry can be an incredible blessing in your life. At our best, we as dentists have the power and ability to literally transform the health, confidence, and lives of our patients through our work, and in the process experience our true value and worth. Unfortunately, dentistry can also feel like a never-ending treadmill of thankless, meaningless, fix-it projects, that ultimately diminish the value of our services and our personal worth. I have made it my mission as a coach to help every dentist experience dentistry as the fulfilling, transformative profession it can be, and to help them experience the financial success and life they truly desire.

My road to creating my ideal practices and ultimately becoming a dental coach started not long after I graduated from dental school at Marquette in 1997 and began practicing with my father in Colorado. After graduation, he sent me on what I now think of as an advanced education journey, to learn and train with Dr. Frank Spear at his Seattle office, with Dr. Bill Strupp in Florida, Dr. Larry Rosenthall in New York, and many others who gave me the vision early on in my career to see what was possible in esthetic and restorative dentistry and the skills to elevate my practice. After completing many full mouth and esthetic cases over the first 10 years of my career, I was asked to become an instructor with P.A.C. – Live, where I taught hands-on full-mouth reconstructive dentistry in Vancouver, San Francisco, and Denver from 2008 -2012. In 2017 The Thrive Dentists hired me to create an online education program on reconstructive dentistry called Rehab, and I began officially coaching dentists privately in 2018.

In terms of my practice experience, I have both purchased and started multiple practices over my career. I sold my first scratch practice at 39 years old and quickly grew accustomed to starting and transitioning numerous practices the same way. Over the years, I gained experience in the business side of dentistry, using my experience to help other dentists, whether they were starting a practice from the ground up or transitioning and growing an existing practice.

I feel my practical experience as a dentist and practice owner gives me a distinct advantage over the typical dental consultant who has never held a handpiece. My approach to dentistry is unique. I’m not simply your consultant, but rather your personal coach and mentor. That distinction seems to make all the difference, as the results I have achieved for my clients speak to the validity and universal applicability of my approach. From my experience, the fastest way to achieve your dreams is to find a coach or a mentor who has built the kind of practice you want and kind of life you want to live and learn from them. In dentistry, I am that person.

While I am proud of what my team and I have achieved for our patients and coaching clients, I believe my biggest accomplishments have occurred outside of dentistry. As of writing this, I have been married to Tricia, the love of my life, for 27 years, and we have successfully raised two fun-loving, unique, caring, and talented children. Together, we’ve explored many corners of the world, created a positive impact by helping others, and made priceless memories, all while maintaining our principles about what really matters in our lives.
